Exhibition Over
Well that’s all done and dusted, thankfully. It was a good showing and we had a reasonable amount of genuine interest in the show. I was most people skirt around my work as if they were either embarrassed or disgusted by my images, either way it works for me. There were many though that did stop and have a serious look at them and the images I had put up on the screen on a video loop. So what did I think of my final images and was I happy with them? Well, no really. There were several things wrong with them and the storyline up on the wall, mainly because I had to cull so many images out of the series that it made it a lot harder to try and tell a whole narrative that fitted in line with my original concept and brief, guess that is what doing this has been all about though isn’t it? So why was I not happy? Am I ever with my work? Tough questions and even tougher answers, no I am never really happy with my work until I see something that jumps out and smacks me int he face, I only ever really get that from a few of my images. Don’t get me wrong the images up were formally strong and followed the concept through all the images presented, you could easily see the common bond in them all. But was it enough? Probably not. I have spent the last week in excruciating pain and the drugs have been maxed out and over the limits a few times too try and level me out, not helping but thankfully I am back in hospital soon although I am not looking forward too getting the results back. I must admit that even having the right side of my brain semi destroyed and turned into swiss cheese is really only a testament to the power of my left side. Any normal person would have been a drooling mess by now, not me though. I will continue too struggle and have my bad days like any other person out there with disabilities. I am not sure where the next brief will take me but I am looking forward too working on another project, I had thought maybe a collaboration or something with another fine arts student but I will wait and see what happens with this lot first, I still have too finish off my body of work essay and I have way too little bibliographies as usual, well its not as easy for me as others but I offer no excuses I just have to knuckle down and get the work done and pro due the right stuff for them. Yeah easier said than done I know but then what choices do I have, give up and admit defeat? Never! So then I just have too learn how to do it right and since I have never been taught correctly then it will just have to be the hard road as always, nothing like a little pressure too keep the blood pumping.
