Crazy Times
Well it has been a few days passed since a little write up on here and for that I apologize, one must remember to keep their journal complete and filled out whenever possible, this of course helps in the fact you no longer have to rely on just your mind but that it is all written down. I have been working hard out on my images, thanks tot he hiccups that came along I had to turn things around, still using the same themes I managed to sort out 2 crucial images, now all that is left to do is the child poverty image, which will be done tomorrow, pray the gods are willing :). I have sized up 2 of my images for print, the largest being the 1.5x1m memorial print and the domestic violence image on transparency at 60x40cm, the mirror and frame is already completed for that and the frame for the other print was finished last Friday, took awhile to complete it being so large but ultimately it and the image going into suit each other to a T.
I miss the old school ways some days, using enlargers to up the size of images is simple, using photoshop is frustrating, some may say it is simple as well but they are avid fans and users of it so know its ins and outs whereas I never really use or used it before college so its still kinda foreign to me, or all Dutch as they say, though no idea why its the Dutch when there are harder languages to learn, English for a starter. Using photoshop to enlarge my print took all morning, no the desktop processors are not slow they are updated regularly but more so that when you are getting images the size of 3-4gb even photoshop takes its time to process all the information in the image and as you know resizing at 110% each time makes it take that bit longer, but the wait is worth it the prints look perfect and as normal with the majority of my work it has a slightly dark twisted edge to it overall.
I enrolled for 3rd year, my advanced year, under guidance from my tutors as they all believe I should continue, and my original plan was to go the full length as long as I passed each course, which I have :), so yes I will continue and try and nail down a more distinct style, not that throughout my life there has been many styles, it has mostly had dark overtone to it in one form or another, though not always 100% of my art has been, I have also done many landscapes, drawn and photographed and they have been portrayed in the beauty that is seen, capturing the essence of the land and skies and all between, I have also done portraits, even pets, but what style would I like to carry me on through life and share with the world, these are answers I will have to present for my 3rd year.
It can wait until then, for now I will concentrate on getting my final prints up on display and my graduation exhibition over, this blog was set up as a way of showing me Evolution of Body of Work or EBOW but for me it has also been an invaluable tool and one that I will most likely continue with, even if only for my own release but so that if any others get anything useful out of it then that’s just a bonus.
