Weekend of want

Well thats the birthday week over, thankfully lol, not as young as I used to be thats for sure. Over the weekend though I wanted to do a few images but body wasn’t allowing me to do much so I played about with my frames for two of my finals, the mirror frame and large frame for the memorial print are practically finished they have both been painted up and fixed now just ready for the images themselves which I will start printing out today, most likely to start with the transparency image as that sized is already known the other images will be made to the sizes of frames, lesson learnt always measure the inside of the frames for the correct size, even measure twice to be sure-to be sure, this will save you a lot of stress later when you print your image to find it is a mill of two out! My suicide and poverty images will be shot this week as long as the good lord allows it and my nemesis Murphy stays away it will be all fine and dandy. Well I got my artist statement and image printed out for the exhibition sent off and the powers to be have it now, just got our invites they look good to, will try and get a copy to upload here even. this is the statement that is preceding my work this time.

Culture Shock

In most societies we are born into a culture, but what about Western Culture? With the strong influence of American Society, cultures are becoming blended.

But what is Western Culture? It is a culture of ‘accept no responsibility and pass all blame’.

We see it everyday in the media and on the news, people are placed into categories to make others feel significant and important.

I have created a series of images that we all to often see in the news but never there is enough done to address the issues.

We are a culture of ‘its somebody else’s problem let them deal with it’.

I think that works, and should cause as usual some controversy. As always more to follow……..
