Latest Session

So did another session in the studio on the weekend, had both models there and was able to create lighting that suited both of their skin tones, which are almost at opposite ends of the scale. What works for one as I have said before might not always work for the other but get the two together and blend the light somewhere in the middle and with soft warm tones they will end up complimenting each other just fine. I took only a limited amount of photos, less than 50 and out of those I will critique each one and place into groups of good, bad and I’m def using this. Then of course I will re-critique and start all over, this I will do several times until I am satisfied myself that the images I am going to display are the ones that are telling the viewer the best story possible without me giving away too much information.
I think in one of my alter images I have achieved this perfectly, there is a lot of raw depth and emotion pouring out of it that it makes it difficult to just walk away from the image without having another quick glance.
Today I worked on the cropping of the images I had taken on the weekend and also the earlier shoots as well, having the images cropped creates more context and allows for a lot more ambiguity in the work itself. By not showing the whole image the viewer must determine for themselves what exactly is the artist showing and saying, the answers are there of course in plain view, but the definition may change from viewer to viewer.  While I have kinda deviated from the original concept I threw out in the beginning, I have still shown but maybe in a different style, the struggle between the dom and their sub, the power plays and emotional attachment and most importantly the trust and devotion that is a key part of the BDSM relationship.
Hopefully this week I will be able too get the ‘priest’ into the studio and do a couple of images with him, I do not know if the will be in harnesses, chains, leather etc or just his attire and props. Using a priest is opening up another whole can of worms which will be subject to public scrutiny and totally under the microscope, I am doing it because of my Roman Catholic upbringing will be the main focus. Well easy answer, no. I am doing it because my model looks like he could be a priest in real life so I have taken advantage of that and created a series of images involving him, most notably that of being a hitman. However still putting him now into a scenario where he is involved in a BDSM lifestyle as well adds even more context and content too the story but will it detract from the images I have already created, by having this third element too the storyline goes in line with the original concept that I pitched back at the start of the year so it does kinda fit in, however after shooting the two models on the weekend I got a much better sense of a storyline that grabs your attention, yes sure adding a male would be a normal thing too do but then we all know I am not normal so therefore for me too add a male would not be the normal thing to do. But showing the two women in the images changes the concept dramatically and adds plenty of depth and element and besides who’s too say that she wanted mr grey and wasn’t after mrs grey instead.
So I will probably take the images then and just see how it unfolds, who knows maybe it works.
